Shaping European Mindsets amongst students
The 3rd edition of the Summer International School of Rome Sapienza University of Rome again was a great success.
The third edition of the Summer International School "The European Railway System" has come to a successful close, organised by Sapienza University of Rome as part of the European SERAS Skills Alliance project.
From July 14th to 22nd, Rome became the meeting point for students from all over Europe, gathered to explore the European railway system in all its dimensions.
A top-level programme, featuring sessions dedicated to highly topical issues in the railway sector, including European interoperability, artificial intelligence applied to railway operations, Digital Automatic Coupling, #sustainable powertrains and #green railway mobility and the evolution of signalling systems towards ERTMS/ETCS.
Highly valuable technical visits: the RFI traffic control centre at Roma Termini station, the Trenitalia maintenance facility at Roma Smistamento, the Alstom signalling laboratory, the historical railway museum in Pietrarsa (reached by high-speed train), and # Rome's metro Line C, one of the few fully automated lines in Europe.
The summer school was an event that brought together scientific rigor, international exchange, and a strong sense of community, as captured in the words of one of the participants:
"Participating in this Summer School has been a truly inspiring and enriching experience. [...] It was a privilege to attend the courses at Sapienza University of Rome, learn from outstanding professors and experts [...]. Beyond the technical knowledge, I also had the pleasure of meeting passionate professionals and students from different countries and backgrounds. This edition once again confirms the value of this Summer School as a place of learning, exchange, and growth for the next generation of European railway engineers.
